Welcome back! What a great first week we have had and it was lovely to see the children so enthusiastic on Monday, running through the gate to come into school. Our Year 3's had their Stone Age WOW day on Tuesday, which the children loved. It was a fantastic day for them and they were dressed in my favourite thing - leopard print! We also did tours for perspective Year 3 parents on Wednesday and so many parents commented on how wonderful the children were and how incredible the school looks. I have let Year 5 and 6 children know this week, that if they would like to play football or cricket on the field at lunch time, they are more than welcome to but they need a change of shoes. I hope everyone has fabulous weekend!
Oracy question - Would you rather be able to walk on water or be the fastest runner in the world?
Important Information

We will be hosting another book fair in the library from the 17th to 21st November. This is a fantastic fund-raiser for the school library, last year we made over a £1000 to spend on new books which is a massive boost for us. We all love the library here at Thomas Coram and we like to keep the shelves full of books that encourage the children to read more widely!
The book fair is a great opportunity for the children to practice shopping and purchasing things for themselves. Each class will have slot to come and have a look around and I will also be open during lunchtime for each year group. Children that would like to bring in money are asked to have it in a named envelope which can be handed to the class teacher to be looked after. There will be a wide variety of books and a range of stationary as well which is very popular! I will be open after school if you would prefer to come in with your child and purchases can be paid for by card via a QR code on your mobile phone.
The children are always very excited about the book fair and enjoy having a browse amongst the shelves but please remember you don’t have to purchase anything. I do always remind them they can borrow the library books for free!

Community Information
Saving Castle Fields
Alex from Y6 ran 5 laps of his road George St on Saturday 1st Nov (supported by family and friends) and has raised a whopping £1,700 so far, with donations still coming in. Alex decided to support the charity as Castle Fields is where he walks his dog Ziggy. I think you’ll agree this is a fantastic achievement and shows great community spirit. Alex has a justgiving page and would really appreciate any sponsorship.
Berkhamsted Town Council
BTC is preparing a Neighbourhood Plan, which will set out how the town will change and develop over the next ten years. They would like to invite the younger generation to take part in our ‘Future Berkhamsted’ Poster Competition by drawing a poster on what Berkhamsted might look like in the future. Book vouchers will be awarded for the winning posters! Entry forms can be found here.
St Peters Church
St Peters are holding a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 22nd November selling crafts, art and most importantly cake, with all funds raised going towards the renovation appeal. The Church will also be open on Sunday 23rd for the Festival of Light where the church is lit entirely by candle light and looks truly beautiful.
Weekends between 29th November and 21st December.
Friends of Thomas Coram
This is the last year our current organiser will be running the Friends of Thomas Coram Santa Sleigh night, so we’re looking for someone to take the reins next year.
The role— recruit helpers and be the main contact (the Rotary Club does most of the organising). Fancy giving it a go? You can shadow this year to see how it works—
just get in touch!
We also need volunteers to help collect donations during the Santa Sleigh to cover the George Street area.
