This week

Welcome back! What a great first week we have had and it was lovely to see the children so enthusiastic on Monday, running through the gate to come into school. Our Year 3's had their Stone Age WOW day on Tuesday, which the children loved. It was a fantastic day for them and they were dressed in my favourite thing - leopard print! We also did tours for perspective Year 3 parents on Wednesday and so many parents commented on how wonderful the children were and how incredible the school looks. I have let Year 5 and 6 children know this week, that if they would like to play football or cricket on the field at lunch time, they are more than welcome to but they need a change of shoes. I hope everyone has fabulous weekend!

Oracy question - Would you rather be able to walk on water or be the fastest runner in the world?

Worship
On Monday, Father Stuart led worship on Daniel and the courage of the prophets. In class, the children focused on Adam Peaty the olympic swimmer and his influence with faith. Today we had our wonderful class assembly with Gambia! Well done Gambia!

Important Information

Anti Bullying Week
Monday 10th - Friday 14th November is national anti bullying week and the theme is 'Power For Good'.  We would like to invite all children to wear odd socks on Monday! Odd socks poster here!

Phone Policy
As you all know phone use is a hot topic in schools. Ashlyns have shared with us their new phone policy which is for students joining Y7 in September. They will not be allowed to take a smart phone into school, they will be allowed a basic feature, non smart phone. These will be stored in the schools phone pouch system during the school day. With this in mind, I would ask all parents to consider the type of phone your child currently uses and the type of phone you buy if you are considering buying a phone for your child in the future.

 Parent Readers
We are looking for volunteer parents readers that would like to come in for a bit either at the beginning of a day or before pickup to read with children.  If you able to volunteer then please email the school office with the day and time you are available and we will put a timetable together. Thank you.

The Book Fair is coming!
We will be hosting another book fair in the library from the 17th to 21st November. This is a fantastic fund-raiser for the school library, last year we made over a £1000 to spend on new books which is a massive boost for us. We all love the library here at Thomas Coram and we like to keep the shelves full of books that encourage the children to read more widely!

The book fair is a great opportunity for the children to practice shopping and purchasing things for themselves. Each class will have slot to come and have a look around and I will also be open during lunchtime for each year group. Children that would like to bring in money are asked to have it in a named envelope which can be handed to the class teacher to be looked after. There will be a wide variety of books and a range of stationary as well which is very popular! I will be open after school if you would prefer to come in with your child and purchases can be paid for by card via a QR code on your mobile phone.

The children are always very excited about the book fair and enjoy having a browse amongst the shelves but please remember you don’t have to purchase anything.  I do always remind them they can borrow the library books for free!
