This Week
Welcome back! I cannot believe how quickly the summer went and now we are fully back into Team TC school life. I know I value being back at school and back into a routine, as it does get tricky not having that consistency and routine, so I was pleased to be back on Tuesday. It was so lovely to welcome everyone yesterday morning and so many children so keen to run through the gates and get into their classes. Over the last two days, we launched our new TC Talk oracy scheme work with the children and our new SHINE expectations that we have of the children. We are going to be promoting that high quality talk within the classroom and those expectations to SHINE. Thank you to all of you who attended yesterday evenings Meet the Teacher, it was a really busy event. I hope you found it useful and informative. Meet the Teacher slides from the evening can be found on the school website In Our Year Group and Classes.  FOTC slides can be found here. Thank you for bearing with us as we changed the booking process for Captain's Club. Mrs Allen will be back on Monday to answer any outstanding queries. For any urgent bookings, please always contact the office who will be able to book you on. I would also like to say a big thank you to Loki in Peru class and his family for coming in over the summer and helping to clear and tidy some of the outside areas, it is looking fabulous! Have a lovely and restful weekend for a full week next week.

Friends of Thomas Coram

This year, FoTC is trying to raise £15k to fund a new bank of Chromebooks. The school has three sets but we need an additional bank so each year gets year-round access.

So we need your help!

We need everyone to get involved, whether it be for a one-off hour, to help with activities, as a trustee or somewhere in between. Please get in touch with Sara 07717516069 to let us know how you’d like to help.

In the meantime, we’re kicking off with our Family WhoDunnit.

The Berko Bell has been stolen and we need our families to solve the clues to find out who the dastardly criminal is.

The event is on Friday 25th Sept at 6pm and is for the whole family. Each team will get a series of clues to crack to find out whodunnit.

We’ll have a bar and snacks, but feel free to bring your own picnic to keep the nibbles at bay. It’s going to be fun!

If you are a new Class Rep please don't forget to join the central Whatsapp Group (link below)

Community Information

Blessing of the Backpacks (and a picnic):

On Sunday 13th September as part of our regular 9.30am Sunday Service we'll be inviting the schoolchildren of the parish to come forward to have their school backpacks/satchels blessed to mark the start of the new school year. All are very welcome to join us.

You can read more about this here: Blessing of the Backpacks - Diocese of Ely

After the service there will be a picnic at The Rectory (Rectory Lane, HP4 2DH) to which everyone is very welcome (weather permitting!).

Swan Youth Project

The Swan Youth Project is back for the new academic year and we would like to see as many new and old faces as possible! We provide young people in our community with: "Somewhere to Go, Something to Do and Someone to Listen."  It is a free provision where young people can socialise, try their hand at new skills and also have fun.

Peoples Emergency Briefing

A film called "People’s Emergency Briefing” followed by a discussion in the community. It is a 45 min film that presents a calm, evidence-based overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain - and what the science says about risks and responses.

Berkhamsted Choral Society

Berkhamsted Choral Society’s have a concert at St Peter’s Church, Berkhamsted on Saturday 12 September at 7.00pm. They will be joined by Chorleywood Choral Society and performing a number of choral classics.
