Physical Education (PE)
Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.

At Thomas Coram, we recognise the important role of P.E. in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles. Our P.E. curriculum is to provide all children with high quality P.E. and sport provision. We inspire our pupils through fun and engaging P.E. lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. Coverage of skills and knowledge are centred on The National Curriculum and are planned by our PE specialist and our PE lead. The children are fortunate to be taught by a PE specialist and have two hours of PE per week. When talking to the children PE is always a top subject choice of theirs and we are very lucky to be able to take part in many sporting events and have been awarded with many trophies. The children are able to take part in many extra curricular activities both during lunch and after school with both paid and free clubs available.
We want our pupils to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle and showcase abilities not always visible in a classroom setting. Through our teaching of P.E., we provide opportunities for pupils to develop not only physical skills, but values and transferrable life skills such as fairness and respect, as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in competitive sport. Our children will know that physical education could lead to careers in competitive sport, leisure & tourism, sports science, leadership and coaching, journalism and reporting.
